First things first. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Since we started this blog I have been reading a lot and visiting sites of other fellow bloggers mainly writing about minimalism, early retirement, financial independence and personal finance. Many of them are over achievers and good at what they do. Great community to say the least.
We started this blog with the intention of just chronicling our journey for accountability purposes. We didn’t even think about making money from this blog. It was supposed to be our online journal. It still is. What I didn’t realize is the amount of time needed to maintain a blog. I don’t even really promote it day in and day out like many bloggers and I am still struggling to find enough time for it.
How do some of those guys find time to do all things needed to promote their blogs while they have full-time jobs, kids at home, side hustles, and other responsibilities?
Seems like presence in social media is huge if you want to have a successful blog. Another time spender. I can’t even imagine the amount of time needed for social media presence. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, tumblr, and the list goes on and on.
How many different accounts are needed? Do we need to be present here, there and everywhere?
Let’s say that we start getting some visitors and they like the content.
Do the visitors really like to see bunch of popups to sign up for emails? Do they really get excited about a bunch of google ads when it’s the first things they see on a blog? Do they even use those links to buy things?
If I have to be honest with you those are the first things which annoy the crap out of me, especially the popup messages. Subscription popups are the sure way of running me away from a website. Having said that, it doesn’t mean that I won’t have ads on this blog – assuming that they work. One thing is for sure, I will never have those popups for email subscriptions on this website. In the future, if I ever change my mind and start using those popups you are allowed to virtual-bitch-slap me.
If you are a blogger drop a few lines and let us know how you manage your time and how all that work gets done. Or, instead, if all you want is to virtually bitch slap me for wasting your time with this article you are more than welcome. I am a big boy. I can take it. ?
Once again, Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
